BPP celebrates as Ofsted award ‘Good’ grade after inspection
BPP Professional Education Ltd is delighted to announce that it has been awarded ‘Good’ in its recent Ofsted inspection.
The ‘Good’ grading was awarded after a four-day inspection carried out between 8-11 March 2022.
Over the last two years, BPP has revised its approach to how they monitor and enhance the quality of apprenticeship programmes in line with the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework. This starts with two of the most important aspects of its offer, teaching and coaching. A redesign of the observation process, observation training, an "enhancing excellence" webinar series for tutors and coaches, and the introduction of an online graded observation form were just a few key examples of changes that BPP performed.
BPP has approximately 9,800 apprentices with various employers across the country, undertaking apprenticeships ranging from levels 2 to 7. Around half of the apprentices take the level 7 Accountancy and Taxation professional programme, with other programmes on offer including Investment Banking, Compliance and Risk, Financial Services, Human Resources, Insurance and Business Administration.
Speaking about the outcome Nikki Botterill, Director of Apprenticeship Quality said, “We are extremely proud to have achieved a ‘Good’ rating. The success of an inspection is never just about the four days inspectors are in, it’s about the everyday experience. Our staff are educated about the expectations of an inspection, receive thorough high-quality training, and robust quality assurance processes to monitor and measure impact.
Our data plays a powerful tool which supports our progress at BPP. As a management team we are able to see where our focus is required and where best practice can be shared. This gives our learners the best possible experience and education at BPP”
James Hammill, Executive Director of Apprenticeships said “Our learners will always be our number one priority. As a group, we all share one common goal which is to ensure we provide outstanding education. The way the team came together for this inspection was brilliant and it’s a reminder on how far we have come. We started off in 2012 with less than 100 apprentices, fast forward 10 years and we’ve been through seven Ofsted visits and have over 11,000 live learners spread across more than 30 different programmes. Our ambition is to be ‘Outstanding’ and we are making strong progress towards achieving this”
Extracts from the report.
“Apprentices enjoy learning in a safe environment, within a supportive culture, which they describe as being ambitious for their success”
“Apprentices have an excellent understanding of how their training benefits them, their employers and society”
“Apprentices benefit from high-quality skills training and focused ‘skills days’ that enable them to link the theoretical knowledge they acquire in lessons with workplace practice”
“Staff promote a culture of equality and diversity to apprentices, which they embed well within the programme. Apprentices have access to a suite of resources to support their well-being
“They recognise the benefits of learning from experts in the industries in which they work. Attendance is high because most apprentices enjoy their programme and value what their coaches and tutors have to say”
BPP has in excess of 10 years’ experience in delivering high quality apprenticeships, working in collaboration with 7 of the 10 major UK banks and 20 of the UK’s largest corporations.
