Entry requirements

The entry requirements to study the MSc Management with Hospitality Management are as follows:   

  • A minimum of a 2:2 bachelor's degree in STEM, or equivalent international STEM qualification; or 

  • A non-STEM bachelor’s degree (2:1 minimum) with relevant STEM experience; or 

  • A relevant professional qualification equivalent to level 6 combined with professional experience may also be considered

Course structure

Term 1

Managing Customer Experience (15 credits) 

Get the skills and knowledge you need to excel in customer experience, and understand the importance of customer experience, customer personas, and the creation and visualisation of a customer journey map. You’ll also study how organisations deliver flawless customer experience leveraging seamless omni-channel platforms. 

Leading Through Digital Change (15 credits) 

Understand the causes and impact of change, and how to prepare organisations and teams to cope with change. With an insight into digital transformation strategies, you’ll consider the nature and role of leadership in an ever-changing environment and learn how to make informed decisions. 

Principles of Management (30 credits) 

On this module, you will develop an insight into managing day to day operations and activities, seeking to make best use of resources to meet stakeholder’s expectations. You’ll design a skills development plan which focusses on your career aims and objectives to propel your management development. 

Term 2

Organisational Strategy and Sustainability (15 credits) 

Discover the knowledge and skills you need as a future business manager and leader. You’ll put yourself in the shoes of decision-makers to evaluate the impact of dynamic political, ecological, or socio-cultural environments. Using both current and traditional frameworks, you’ll assess the internal mechanisms of various business types and how resources and capabilities are enhanced to provide a competitive advantage. 

Business Consultancy Project Proposal (15 credits)  

Produce a proposal for your final project, outlining the investigation area, the research questions, the types of information collected, and how it will be used. You’ll select an area of business management that interests you that you wish to investigate further, using academic concepts and considering the planning related to the business project. 

Hospitality Management Essentials (30 credits) 

Get the comprehensive knowledge and advanced skills needed for a successful career in hospitality management. You’ll delve into key areas such as hotel operations, food and beverage management, event planning, and strategic marketing. You will also explore contemporary issues while developing your critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. 

Term 3

Sustainable Hospitality Operations Management (30 credits) 

This module us tailored to position you as a forward-thinking leader in the industry. Throughout the module, you will learn how to design and manage hospitality operations that are not only efficient and effective but also sustainable and socially responsible. Gain hands-on experience in market analysis, operational design, and strategic management, all while learning to integrate sustainability into every aspect of business operations. 

Business Consultancy Project (30 credits) 

Participate in a series of activities aimed at enhancing your research, analytical, project management, and problem-solving capabilities. These activities are designed to prepare you comprehensively for the development and delivery of a professional business consultancy report. 

Professional Development Planning(exclusive to 18-month programme)

Embedded in the 18-month option, the PDP programme can contribute to your success at finding jobs and post-study work visa opportunities. It provides a structured approach to professional development, helping you gain the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to sustain a career in your chosen field.

You will receive additional sessions which run alongside academic terms to prepare for the six months of career practice which may include projects, voluntary works, placement or internship opportunities. *

*Please note that if you fall behind with your studies and cannot progress on your Master’s programme, you will not be eligible for the placement interview process. The Placements team works with an extensive range of employers to find work.

How you'll study

Contact hours

Full-time students will typically receive 10 contact hours per week and will need to devote at least 28 hours a week to study.   

Learning materials

All required learning materials are provided online as part of the course fee. This reflects modern working practices and minimises our environmental impact. Print on demand versions are available for students with specific learning needs.   


Types of assessment

The programme features a variety of assessments including coursework and examinations.   

Coursework is in the form of essays, reports or case studies, while group or individual presentations may be required to assess other competencies.   

Examinations will be with written elements or multiple-choice questions and may be unseen or part-seen, where assessment material is released in advance.   

BPP University offers flexibility in how these assessments are undertaken, and the programmes will utilise online tools where available to deliver assessments. On occasion, some assessments may require attendance at a physical location.
