You will start your apprenticeship at Higher Executive Officer level (HEO) and after two years getting paid to explore emerging technologies and work with experts in your field, you will be digital career ready and eligible to apply for Senior Executive Officer (SEO) roles.
What you’ll do as a TechTrack apprentice:
Train for the workplace with learning you can put into practice straight away
Earn a salary from day one and get the same rights as employees, including sick leave and holiday pay
Spend at least six of your working hours each week training or studying
Undertake ongoing assessments, including an end-point assessment
Work on leading-edge digital solutions and projects that have a meaningful impact on the lives of UK citizens

What you will study
The Level 4 Business Analyst TechTrack Apprenticeship gives you the high-level skills you need to make a difference straight away. From situational analysis and business process modelling to requirements engineering, learn how to drive change in your organisation through detailed business analysis. Plus, develop your communication skills to ensure you have what it takes to engage stakeholders effectively.
Taught by industry experts, this apprenticeship gets you digital career ready with learning that transforms your role from day one. Throughout the programme you will gain a unique understanding of the challenges that your department faces as well as learning how to identify the solutions and efficiencies you can implement to exceed ambitious targets.
On completing the Level 4 Business Analyst TechTrack Apprenticeship, you will stand out for your ability to apply the technologies and tools used by top business analysts to handle complex projects.
What does a Business Analyst do?
As a TechTrack Business Analyst, you will develop your skills and help teams from day one. Over the course of the programme, you will gain knowledge, skills and experience, including how to:
analyse and understand a business problem or opportunity
undertake research and analysis to understand the function of a business/business area, including the people, organisation, processes, data and development, and service testing
use analysis-led insights to make decisions regarding prioritisation and minimum viable product (MVP)
understand the value of Business Analysis in bringing about business improvements
conduct internal and external environmental analysis
Who is it suitable for?
The Level 4 Business Analyst Apprenticeship is perfect for individuals who are passionate about tech and want to make a difference as part of the Government Digital and Data community. It provides an opportunity for both civil servants and external candidates to be placed into the most in-demand data and technology roles.
Successful candidates must:
have been resident in the UK for a minimum of three years
pass a disclosure and barring security (DBS) check
meet the relevant security requirements before starting the programme. The security clearance required varies according to department, ranging from BPSS (minimum requirement) to DV clearance.
Please note: Applicants who already hold a formal Level 4 qualification in software development, computer science, information technology, or a related field, or those with a computing degree, may not be eligible for this apprenticeship.

1. Ready to apply?
Interested in the Business Analyst programme? Simply complete the application form below. To progress to the next stage, you must meet the minimum apprenticeship criteria and be eligible for funding. The BPP team might get in touch to ask for further information.2. Complete our Business Analysis technical assessment
Once you’ve submitted your application, you will receive an email from BPP with a link to complete our technical assessment. You have ten days from registering to complete the assessment, so keep an eye out for the email.3. Self-assessment
If you achieve the minimum pass mark on the technical assessment, we will invite you to complete a self-assessment questionnaire. This is designed to give us an idea of your strengths and behaviours.4. Interview with BPP
If you have successfully passed the previous steps, we will invite you to an interview with BPP. During the interview, we will assess your motivation, commitment and technical skills against the Civil Service Success Profiles, as well as reviewing your self-assessment questionnaire.5. Final interview
We will shortlist candidates based on their performance throughout the application process. If successful, you will be invited to an interview with the Civil Service, which will last approximately 45 minutes.6. Onboarding
Successful candidates will be onboarded into BPP from January 2025. The onboarding process usually takes two to three weeks (not including completing security checks) and gives candidates a chance to meet with their placement coach before starting the programme.Apply now

Applicants must:
• be over 16 years old
• have permission to live and work in the UK
• have an eligibility residency status:
UK citizens - must have an ordinarily resident in the UK for the last three years
Applicants will be asked to share key information with us at the start of each application, such as residency status, levels of prior learning and any current Visas held.
Both the Level 4 Business Analyst and Level 4 Cyber Security Technologist programmes require individuals to be employed in a relevant role and have a minimum of five GCSEs grade A – C (9 –4 on the new grading system), and A Level 3 qualification such as A levels, NVQs, a BTEC or a Level 3 Apprenticeship. Learners will also need to have some IT level 2/3 qualification for Cyber.
Previous experience and ability will be measured by aptitude tests when applying for the apprenticeship. As part of the application process individuals will complete a more in-depth knowledge, skills, and behaviours questionnaire to ascertain the level of experience in each area, this process identifies areas where prior learning may mean a revision in the standard delivery.
For Cyber Security roles, you will need to have a qualification with IT such as a BTEC in IT.
The apprentices will be part of a Community of Practice for their respective role, in which they will be part of a digital community and share knowledge with more experienced Civil Servants.
