Apprenticeship Funding
Maximising your investment
Whatever the size or type of your business, let us guide you through the end-to-end process of utilising the Apprenticeship Levy.
Think apprenticeships are costly to implement? Think again.
Apprenticeship funding for employers
All employers can either fully fund, or fund up to 95% of, the cost of training and assessments for apprentices. This depends on the size of your business, whether you’re a levy or non-levy employer, and how you want to use your apprenticeships.
Option 1: Apprenticeship Levy Payers
Apprenticeship Levy payers can access 100% apprenticeship funding for existing staff and new apprentices.
If you’re a UK-based employer with a UK pay bill of over £3 million, your business must pay the Apprenticeship Levy. These costs are paid through a government tax scheme. Any tax paid is then reserved in an apprenticeship fund that can be used to pay for apprenticeship training within your business.
We can assess and advise the best use of your ‘use it or lose it’ Apprenticeship Levy so you can be assured that you’ve made a great commercial investment.
Option 2: Co-Investment for Non-Levy Payers
Employers that do not pay in to the Apprenticeship Levy can still access apprenticeship funding.
Access 100% apprenticeship funding when you hire a new apprentice aged 16-21 in to your business
Access 95% apprenticeship funding to upskill existing employees and apprentices aged over 21
Option 3: Apprenticeship Levy Transfer
An Apprenticeship Levy-paying employer can transfer a maximum of 50% of their apprenticeship funding to your business. This can be used to cover 100% of training costs to upskill existing employees or hire in new apprentices.
Additional government incentives
Employers can receive an additional £1,000 cash payment on top of the standard government funding if they employ a new apprentice, rather than upskilling an existing employee, who is either:
Aged 16-18 years old
Under 25 and has an education, health and care plan, or has been in the care of their local authority
