Future skills research highlights data analytics as key skill in next decade

BPP has undertaken research with over 1,500 professionals from a range of global businesses to predict which skills they anticipate will require intensive and further training within the next 10 years.

The research, focusing on both present and future skills, collected a total of 924 responses specifically from professionals working in the UK. The remaining 622 were collected from professionals in regions Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia. It focuses on skills gaps for professionals in roles including Accountancy, Management, Human Resources, Data Analytics, Investment Management, Risk and Compliance and Sales and Relationship Management.

The research reveals that accountancy professionals in the UK think that data analytics and emerging technology will be key skills and training priorities over the next ten years: applying robotics, AI and automation to the financial process, for example,  ranks first as the most important training priority for the next decade.

Across almost all roles, data analytics is the skill that appears most frequently. From investment managers to risk and compliance professionals, data and analytics will be integral to almost every role in the future.
